One thing that we all want is to find amazing hairstyles that are super easy to create. For me personally, it seems like the older I get, the less time I have (or the faster time seems to fly by or…well, you get the point). So I constantly struggle with trying to get my hair to look its best every morning before I literally run out the door. So I was quite pleased when I stumbled upon a video that show you how to create elegant updos in less than 5 minutes! I’ve summarized the steps for the purposes of this post, but I would encourage you to also watch the video right now.
The first updo hairstyle features a braid that sweeps from one side of your head to the other, ultimately resting on your shoulder. First, separate the front section of your hair and divide it into 3 distinct sections (in the video, she has a part on the right hand side of the top of her head, so she sections off the side that flows to the left). Then French twist the sections together in a slanted direction, starting near the scalp and ending just below the opposite ear. As you braid, bring the hair from under out in order to achieve a visual texture (check the video for a demo), and periodically check for loose parts or bumpiness so you can smooth things out as you go. Then braid normally from the top of your neck down, and secure with an elastic hair band a couple of inches up from the ends. Loosen the braid a bit, and you’re done!
The next style is a variation of the first style, so perform all of those steps first if you’re starting from scratch. Then remove the elastic hair band, loosen the last part of the braid (from your ear to shoulder) with your fingers, and re-secure with the hair band. Then tuck the end of the braided section at the back of your head, spiral it into a loose bun, and secure with bobby pins. You’re done!
The third style also incorporates a braided look. First, separate the front section of your hair into 3 distinct sections (same as the first hairstyle above). Then braid your hair from under out until you reach your ear, and then braid normally from that point on. Then pull all of your hair to the nape of your neck, and create a messy bun by wrapping it a couple of times with an elastic hair band as shown in the video. Secure the messy bun with a few hair pins, and you’re done!
So the next time you need an elegant look despite being pressed for time, try one of these quick and easy updo hair styles. I think you will be happy you did!
