Young Girls Hair Style & Updo Tips

Cute girls hair styles are not always that easy to pull off. Sure, you have a vision of this gorgeous updo, completed to perfection with a tiara or flowers, but seeing your vision through can be a challenge. Unless the girl is used to someone fussing with her hair, it can often be difficult to make your vision a reality.

Try not to get impatient and understand that despite the fact that she may want to look like a princess, she is still simply a child. Girls hair can be difficult to  get just right if you’re dealing with fidgeting, playing or crying. Even the perfect angel can find herself a little fed up if the girls hair style you’re trying to pull off is taking too long to achieve.

Be Prepared

Make sure that you have absolutely everything that you need before you sit her in that chair to begin. The more times you have to stop to get more hair pins, hairspray, coffee or an aspirin, the more frustrated she is going to become. You want your work station set up so the minute you start trying to duplicate that girls hair style you’re looking at in a magazine, you can keep working swiftly while she’s sitting still.

Why Wash?

Unless your girls hair is really filthy, there is no need to wash before an updo. When she wears her hair down, you want it clean and soft, but this can work against you when you’re doing an updo. Second day hair has a little more texture which makes it a little easier to hold curls, shapes and accessories.

Not to mention, skipping the wash means less time for her to get antsy. Even if you wash her hair the night before and let her sleep on it, you’ll have an easier time achieving those cute girls hair styles than you would if you washed it the same day.

If You Must Wash

If you simply must wash her hair, make sure that you use a gentle product and a detangler. If you have time to let her hair dry naturally, this is ideal since you’re already going to put it through abuse with an iron, teasing, etc. When necessary, blow dry on a low setting. It is recommended to use a texturizing or thickening product if she has fine hair. This will help hold the style better.

Everything’s Better with Curls

It does not matter if you’re creating a ponytail, bun or an elaborate updo, starting with curls almost always provides the best finished look. Even if you comb the curls out, you’ve added a bit of fullness which is always helpful when working with girls hair. Not to mention, a few ringlets hanging loosely down is always the perfect complement to any cute girls hair styles.
