Bridesmaid Wedding Hairstyles for Long Hair

One of the biggest decisions every bride has to make for her big day is choosing the perfect wedding hair style. Will you wear it up or down, curled or straight? Which hair accessories should you add to your look? It is important to choose hairstyles for long hair that will hold through the wedding and reception so you can look your best in every picture. So, how will you decide how to wear your hair, and how do you know you’re making the right decision?

Start with the Basics

The first thing you need to do is decide if you want your hairstyle to be completely up, down, or half of both. By making this decision, you’ll be able to narrow down the vast array of long hair styles that are available.

You also want to consider your hair texture. If you have bone straight hair that never holds a curl, why bother fussing with it for your wedding? Alternatively, if you have natural curls, you can always have it blown out straight; but if you’re getting married on a humid or rainy day, you could end up with quite a fuzzy display.

Down

Down hairstyles for long hair are very versatile since you can wear it this way for the ceremony and then put it up for the reception if you choose. Although in the past it seemed as though you had to at least pull the sides back and wear a barrette or even a headband, this is not the case anymore. Many brides are choosing to wear their hair all down, straight or curly or even pulled back behind one ear with a flower. As long as your hair looks healthy and shiny, you can wear it down in any wedding hair style you choose.

Updo

There is nothing more romantic and practical than updo hairstyles for long hair. Why wouldn’t you want to show off that gorgeous neck in your elegant dress? Updo long hair styles are often the preferred choice for those wearing fuller dresses. An elaborate dress and hair that is full and down can often be just a little too much.

An updo hairstyle can be loose with soft ringlets left out or it can be sleek and neat. There is an abundance of hair accessories available to make any updo look extra glamorous. Plus, you won’t have to worry about your hair going limp as you’re dancing the night away.

Half Up

These long hair styles are extremely popular because you get the best of both worlds. You have the long flowing locks in the back and sometimes also on the sides, while the front is pulled up or back. This type of wedding hair style is ideal for the person who wants to wear her hair down but knows she will get irritated with it constantly being in her face.

Half updo hairstyles for long hair also give you the option to wear a special hair accessory like a flower, tiara or an heirloom barrette. Then, if you decide you want to pull the rest of your hair up at your reception, just pull it back in a ponytail or a bun.
