Soft Updos - Perfect for
Weddings
It's not just the bride
who's looking for something special for her wedding day,
the bridesmaids will also want a look that complements their
dresses.
Here's some ideas for creating a softer, less formal
look that still looks great in the wedding
photos!
The
easiest way to create a soft
updo is to curl your hair, as straightening it will
only make it look harsh. You can however curl your hair
with a pair of straighteners, follow these instructions
to create the perfect loose
curls:
-
Wash and towel dry your hair, apply a pea size
amount of conditioner all over your hair.
-
Blow dry your hair, using your fingers as a
comb, as this will give it more volume.
-
Once
the hair is completely dry, spray
with a heat protective spray, and wait for 5
minutes.
-
Separate
the hair into two sections, one close to your
neck and the other two-thirds up in a secure
grip of some kind.
-
If
your hair is very curly, you may want to pass
the flat irons over your hair before
trying to curl it another way.
-
Take
a strand of hair, and pull the flat irons down
and round, so that the hair is flipped to an
angle of about 180 degrees as you pull it
down. You can also experiment with
twisting the irons sideways
also.
-
Continue
with another third of your hair, and then with
the final third. Try to keep the angle at
which you pass the straightener the same all
the way around, as this will make the curls a
similar size, and therefore create a more
formal look
Now
you have the perfect curls!
You
could add a few hair accessories, some cute diamante
clips are always very flattering.
To
make some updos out of these loose
curls, try a half up-half down look. This can be
created with a large clip at the back of the head, so the
hair will all flow in the same direction.
It can
look very girly and unnatural to have half the hair in a
ponytail stuck out the back of one’s head, so if you want
to do a ponytail, choose to do all of your hair. Perhaps
curl the ends of the hair in the ponytail, and make sure
to keep your hair off your face with some small
grips.
The
key to having hair looking soft is to keep it in
perfect condition. You will want to wash your
hair the morning or the night before the big event, but
not just before. And it is also very important to
remember that blow drying your hair will make it look
very soft, especially if your hair is naturally quite
greasy.
Most
products are also likely to make your hair look
greasy and unnatural, so steer clear of these when you
are completing your soft, romantic look.
Hair color is also something that can
make hair look softer, warmer tones look softest and can
bring out the golden sparkle in your skin, so choose
something with a hint of red, copper or blonde in it when
you next have your colors done.
