Short 'n' sweet - this young woman is finally ready to go to the prom!
There are many prom dos and dont’s when it
comes to your hair that you need to be familiar with. If you are like many others, you’ve spent an exhausting
number of hours picking out the right dress and shoes, you have worked out religiously for a month to get
your body in tip-top shape, and you already know how you’re going to wear your makeup. So why would you leave
picking out your prom up do to the last minute?
Do Consider Your Options
There are a multitude of ideas for prom up dos available online
and in magazines to provide you with all the inspiration that you need to create a sizzling look. You don’t
need to pick the first one you stumble across, or choose one of the easier up dos fort prom out of fear that
you won’t be able to achieve a more glamorous look. Gather all the ideas you like so you can compare them
over the next few days. Keep in mind, a style you like one day may not be so appealing to you the
next.
Don’t Dye Your Hair the Day Before
If you plan on coloring your hair for your
prom up do, don’t wait until the last minute. You want to do this several days, if not a week ahead of time.
Keep in mind that you can’t wash your hair right away after it is dyed. Also consider the fact that the color
may not come out to be all you had hoped for. In this case, you will need to have the color removed or fixed,
which is obviously not something you want to deal with at the last minute.
Do Practice
This might be one of the most important “prom dos” of
all.The
last thing you want to do is fuss with trying out new prom up dos on the day of the event. You know your prom
is coming so try out a new style every night for a couple weeks prior. It doesn’t hurt to take a picture and
see if you still like the look the next day, either. When you do decide on the perfect prom up do, practice
it again, just to make sure that it’s going to be easy to achieve when it matters the
most.
Don’t Make Radical Changes
Although hair dye was already mentioned, some insist on making
other changes right before the event as well. Don’t get your hair cut, permed, chemically straightened or add
extensions within a couple of weeks of the prom. These changes are unpredictable and often result in
frustration and regret when done spontaneously for these types of functions.
Do Allow Yourself Time
One of the most important prom dos is to make sure that you
allow yourself adequate time to achieve your look. Even if you have practiced 10 times, something still could
go wrong. If this happens, your body temperature will rise if you’re in a hurry, you’ll start sweating, and
your makeup will look stale. This is no way to start your night! Prom up dos will hold for many hours when
done properly so give yourself a little extra time to achieve your perfect look.
