An Updo a Month?

I was reading a magazine while waiting at the dentist’s office the other day, and I came across a story focused on women who feel inclined to change their hair updos / hairstyles every month. This is a little different than how I typically think about updos – that is, primarily with a focus on “big event” hairstyles such as prom updos, wedding updos, bridesmaid hairstyles, etc.  Thus, the story really grabbed my attention.

The story covered celebrities as well as everyday people like you and me.  They try different updo hairstyles styles on different lengths of hair on a monthly basis. Sometimes they make beautiful hair updos on short hair and sometimes on long hair. Apparently, there is a whole segment of women keen on having new updo hairstyles each and every month!

Although this may seem difficult to maintain month after month, year after year, whether you have long hair or short hair it is definitely doable.  You will never run out of updo hairstyles from which to choose.  And it doesn’t matter if you have long or short hair.  Long hair updos & hairstyles offer an elegant, sophisticated look, and short hair updos are classy and are said to have a more modern look as compared to long hair updos. Even spiky short hair updos are making a comeback!

So what is the best way to find that perfect updo month after month? Well of course, search through UpDoPrincess.com!  You could also search the Internet in general, or look through magazines.  Another method would be to visit some hair stylists. They typically have books containing pictures of many different types of updos & hairstyles.  Ask the hair stylist which updos or styles are popular nowadays, and he/she can offer guidance and suggestions.  Many hair stylists love to give advice, so this is a good way to pick the brain of a true hair expert!

Yes, this is quite a commitment month after month and truly seems like a lot of work, but I can definitely appreciate the desire of these people to keep their hair fresh and new.  Having an exceptional updo does not have to be limited to big event hairstyles like prom updos, wedding updos, bridesmaid hairstyles, etc.  It can be a part of your regular life!

In the final analysis, I can imagine that for many people, this is an important source of satisfaction and self-empowerment.  And there’s nothing at all wrong with that!

Finding the Best Updo Hairstyles for You

If you are thinking about creating a fabulous updo for your hair, there are a lot of choices from which you can choose the appropriate one. You have plenty of options to create a stylish, chic, sleek, tousled or glamorous updo – for example, formal updos, half updos, messy updos, or even a “down do.” Updo hairstyles can play a significant role in harmonizing your overall appearance.

Of course, if you have long hair, you will enjoy the widest possible range of updo hairstyles.  Updos for long hair can be done by yourself, or with the help of a stylist.  If you choose to create your long hair updo yourself, you can simply pin your hair up or just drop it on your shoulders and spin it for an elegant look.

Curly hair is also appropriate for a variety of updo hairstyles.  Having an astounding curly hair updo will make you look gorgeous and very special.  Check out our curly updo pictures for some ideas.  All are very simple to do, with only a few easy steps you can effectively create an awe-inspiring curly hair updo!

Another popular choice consists of half updos.  This style is popular because it presents the stylishness of updo hairstyles along with the comfy attributes of a down do.  Half updos are very simple to handle as there are no complicated tight buns to make. You can style your hair with a down do, while at the same time pinning up the reverse side of your hair for a truly elegant look.

Of course, your choice of updos is also dependent on the actual event you plan to attend.  You want that perfect dress as well as those perfect shoes, but if your hairstyle does not complement them well, you won’t look as attractive as you could. Whether you are getting ready for prom, a wedding, homecoming, or a party, your updo options are limited only by your own imagination and creativity.

Prom updos in particular are very important to get just right.  You only have one senior prom, so it is important to find a hairstyle that best suits your features, helps you feel comfy, and makes you appear stunning in your dress.  The same can be said for your wedding day.

In other words, prom updos or wedding updos, as well as all updo hairstyles, should create a stylish compliment to your dress or gown as well as your own personality.  Check out our picture gallery for some ideas for formal updos, and a few days before your prom or wedding, put on your dress or gown and try a few prom updos or wedding updos that you like to see how they look.  Then, pick the perfect one for you.

Crazy Fun Video

We are bored so have been looking at some popular & fun videos.

This has to be the craziest and most fun updo video we've seen so far:-

What do you reckon - insane, unworkable and totally fun !?

Add Some Flare to Your Look with an Ornate Prom Dress and an Exquisite Hairstyle

Fashion sense never ceases to vary. Gurus continue to break away from old hard-and-fast rules and set new do’s and don’ts. Previous trends are frequently substituted by new fads. This really makes sense on prom dresses. It’s true what you wear to the banquet is a direct reflection of your style and attitude. Once you are ready to show your best to the crowd, focus on your prom gown and your hairstyle.

How to find an ideal prom dress?

Today, many girls opt for custom prom dresses. One way to do this is to make a rough sketch of your ideal gown, and send it to an experienced tailor or designer. With pieces of fabric and some ingenious hand work, they can often make the ideal style for you.

If you do not yet have any idea on which style to go with, don't get frustrated; make full use of the Internet as well as fashion magazines. You will recognize the latest fads easily, and it’s always wise to follow the mainstream. Just bear in mind not to overdo the trend or elegance. Select a dress fitting of your style and also one that suits your pocket.

Some hot styles among 2010 prom dresses

In the summer of 2010, you can be sure that hot tides will be stirred up in the fashion prom dress arena. Styles like strapless, halter, v-neck, ball gown, empire waist, off the shoulder and one-shoulder are sure to be popular designs. These types of designs are luxurious as well as understated. For detailed reviews on each style, check out Micweddingdresses.com. The site features an experienced team that keeps up to date on the newest fashion sense, and displays the hottest styles with impartial purchase advice and reviews to set girls’ expectations.

Besides these modish versions, some classic and vintage styles may also delight modern girls. Prom dresses exhibiting themes similar to those seen in 1920s, or even 1850s, are making a comeback. Floor-length versions are gorgeous. Also, mini or tea length styles are very appealing.

How to make an exquisite hairstyle?

Let’s face it: a fabulous hairstyle will be the finishing touch on your party look. To make the dream hairstyle, go to the salon directly. Communicate with the stylist to avoid misunderstandings. If you can, find a picture of the hairstyle you really want. Plan to spend about $50.

You could do your hair yourself, by blending your own ideas and fashion sense. It doesn't matter if your hair is straight or curly as you can make it a natural tone highlight. You may get inspired with some ageless hairstyles, such as the brushed back look of a tight ponytail. Just be sure to not make the pony tail too high or too low, and use some bobby pins to prevent hair from falling loose.

If you want a uniquely girlie appearance, go for an asymmetrical hairstyle. Brush your hair and tie it back on any side (best if your ponytail holder is the same color as your prom dress). In this way, your hair will fall over the front of your shoulder, and will fit your figure as well.

If a romantic, but natural hairstyle, is the goal, you do not have to spend hours, just let your hair hang straight on your shoulder. A maturely elegant look is created. This applies to both straight and curly hair.

Be meticulous with your prom dress and hairstyle; you will be glad you did! Find the ideal prom gown and hairstyle to fully express your unique style!

How One High School Made Prom Work For It's Students

We were encouraged to read a real human interest story from Pitt County High School .

They decided to hold the prom at home, rather than in the usual venue of a local golf and country club.

Other schools have also been taking steps to make the formal dance affordable for all students, especially in the current economic downturn.

With the expense of graduation fees, cap and gown, dress or tux, as well as prom tickets, anything a school can do to make the prom accessible for all it's students, during the current economic crisis, is to be applauded.

Let's hope more high schools follow suit and work to support their students in this very practical way!

Fake Tan for Summer 2009

Worried about wearing short skirts or dresses and revealing whiter than white legs?

One of the easy ways to build your confidence in the summer sun is to treat yourself to a fake tan - even if it's just for your legs, it's a good way of getting those legs out for the first time, without worrying about how you look.

You can either treat yourself with a beauty therapist or buy some DIY product from the supermarket shelf. Be careful to follow the instructions carefully so that it doesn't end up streaky or patchy.
