Noughties Hairstyles - The Year 2000 & Beyond
Nearly everyone has heard the term
noughties, but many are unclear what it means. Simply put, this is just cooler and easier to say
than the 2000s. It is the decade from 2000 through 2010 which saw an enormous amount of really sensational
hairstyles. Of course, there were also a few noughtie styles some people would like to forget as
well!
Best Styles of the Noughties
-
Bohemian Waves – Thanks to gorgeous
celebrities like Kate
Hudson and Meghan Fox, Bohemian waves exploded in popularity and it doesn’t look like they’ll be going
anywhere for a long time. Gently tousled, bouncy and glossy locks are easy to create with rollers, a
curling iron or even putting your hair in braids or a bun for a while. What could be better than
that?
- Pixie Cut – Halle Berry, Victoria Beckham, Natalie
Portman, Keira Knightley, Mia Farrow, Carey Mulligan and Michelle Williams have been
responsible for many women wanting to cut off their long hair. It was once said that you had to have long
hair to be sexy, but the pixie comeback in the noughties has proved that theory
wrong.
- The Bob – Funny how the bob seems to make its appearance
every decade. This noughtie hairstyle found its way onto the scene thanks to Katie Holmes who later shortened her hair even more into a pixie
cut.
- Wispy and Straight – Think Heidi Klum, Jennifer Anniston
and of course, Meg Ryan, and you’ll probably
picture bone straight hair with wispy ends, sometimes flipped up a bit. Most women who are partial to the
noughties have at least one straightening iron in the bathroom to create this look.
Worst Styles
- Frosted Tips – Both men and women are responsible for this
shameful noughtie look. Who ever thought it was attractive to look like a tiger? Surprisingly, for at
least a year, you could walk into any mall, bar, club, etc., and see an endless number of bleached out
tips. It was those who decided to do it themselves that really gave the style a bad
name.
- Pixie with a Sweep – When a woman has 10 children and is
given her own television show, people take notice. Kate Gosselin’s noughtie hairdo could be seen on an exhausting number of women when her show’s
popularity peaked. Short and spiky from the crown down with long layers in the front is not a bad look
when done properly. Unfortunately, many women looked as though they may have been an experiment. Word of
advice: when jumping on a new trend, ask to see your stylist’s portfolio with examples of that
look!
- Half Shaved Head – Not sure where this noughtie hair style
originated but there’s still celebrities boasting it so clearly it’s going to stick around for a while.
Where is the commitment in shaving half your head? If you are going to shave it, go for it!
Demi Moore rocked out that bald look in G.I. Jane. There is no shame in showing off that strong personality, just don’t sit on the fence
about it. The half shaved look is going to go down as one of the worse looks of all times, not just of
the decade known as noughties.
