If you have long and flowing hair, a crimped hair style might be just what you
need to take your beauty up a level. I’ve posted a video immediately below that will demonstrate how to do
this using a crimping tool (sometimes knows as a “crimper”), and I would highly recommend you take a look at it to
at least get a sense of whether or not you think your hair will be able to accommodate a crimp hair
style.
How to Crimp Your Hair with a Crimping Tool
Starting with straight hair, the first step is to apply a styling serum. Then section your
hair into 2-3 inch segments. You’ll want to only work on one section at a time, so make sure the sections of
your hair that you are not working on are nicely secured out of the way. Brush each section thoroughly, so
that no tangles are present. Then take your crimping tool and start to crimp, starting from the nape of the
neck and working downward. Hold it in place for 5-10 seconds in each spot.
Keep crimping each section of your hair in this manner until nothing is left but the upper most
crown of your hair. Split the crown section into 3 or 5 individual segments (smaller segments than what you
did previously), and hold each segment straight up vertically as you go. As you do this, hold the crimper on
each section for slightly longer than what you did for the previous segments, as this will allow extra volume at
the top. Do not crimp the bangs.
Finishing Off Your Crimped Hair Style
After all the crimping is done, you’re just about home free! Get a little bit of hair wax,
put some on your fingers, and playfully dab it on your hair so that it retains its softness and volume. Avoid
using traditional hairsprays or gels because these products could stiffen up your hair, which is not ideal for
crimped hair styles.
Summary
As you can see, it is not difficult at all to achieve crimped hair, especially
if you have a high quality crimping tool / crimper.
Although it takes a little longer than many long hair
styles (about 30 minutes), the final look is absolutely stunning. The bottom line is that if you want to
look exotic, crimp your hair and see what you think. Good luck!
