How to Create a Cinnamon Hair Bun for Long Hair

This is one of the most elegant bun hairstyles I have ever seen.  Hair buns are definitely a classic category of hairstyle, but the variation on the style shown in the video facilitates an even more sophisticated look.

Steps to Create a Cinnamon Hair Bun

In order to achieve this hair bun style, you’ll need a round hair brush, elastic hair band, hairspray, and lots of bobby pins (regular ones as well as extended hair pins). Assuming your hair is already long and straight, the first thing you will need to do is brush your hair thoroughly to make sure you do not have any tangles or knots. Next, gather all of your hair in the back and assemble it into a ponytail, and then split the ponytail into 2 equal sections. Grab the left-hand section and start twisting around the right-hand section as shown in the video. Use the bobby pins to secure the hair into the knot area as you twist.

Once the first section of hair is fully twisted and secured into the bun, start twisting the other section.  This should be done in a similar manner to how you twisted the first section; in other words, you’ll twist the second section around the first (already twisted) part, securing everything with bobby pins as you go.  This is what will create the cinnamon hair bun effect.  Keep doing this until both sections of your previously-created ponytail are secured into the hair bun. 

Finish it off by checking for any parts of your hair that are sticking out, and securing these sections with bobby pins.  As with all bun hairstyles, once it is completely secured, check with a mirror to make sure that the overall shape is smooth and fairly symmetrical.  If any part of the bun needs to be smoothed out, do so with your hand until you are satisfied.  Once you are happy with the final result, apply a generous amount of hairspray to hold the shape.  And as they say, that’s all there is to it!

Aside from the actual styling process, one other point worth mentioning is that you should always handle bun hairstyles with care.  Avoid touching your hair, and check the shape frequently if it’s a windy day.  Bring along a hair kit containing the main supplies just in case you have to make a quick pit stop to adjust the shape.  As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
