Homecoming Hairstyles

The homecoming is the annual tradition, popular in both the US and Canada, of welcoming back former students and alumni to high schools, colleges and universities.

The traditions include a parade, the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen (with the obligatory wearing of sashes) at the homecoming dance and, of course, a football game.

There are also less traditional fun and games as part of the weeks event, more recently the womanless beauty pageant has seen an increase in popularity.

Many people arrive and enjoy the socializing and exciting atmosphere of so many people joining together.

In schools, there is often " Spirit Week ", where students can enjoy dressing according to a particular theme.

Since hip hop artist Kanye West released the Graduation album in September 2007, " Homecoming ", (for words & lyrics, check MetroLyrics.com) has been a popular track and is likely to make the event of homecoming even more popular.

The "homecoming" game and the surrounding celebrations are set to be an important part of the calendar for many educational establishments.

You can choose some slightly less formal hair styles than you might for prom - just make sure they're robust enough to withstand a night of dancing !

The History of Homecoming

There is dispute as to which University held the first homecomings, but in the early 1900's the tradition of these annual events was started and has spread to educational establishments and towns across America.

Initially started as an opportunity for alumni to return to campus for a reunion with fellow students, it grew into an all-week event, centred around the football game and a more formal evening of celebration and dance.

The homecoming parade has grown to be a lavish affair with dozens of floats parading in a fun event for everyone to enjoy.  Celebrations are often extended with tents providing opportunity for returning students and alumni to gather to socialise, eat and enjoy reminiscing.
