A two-part video of how to create a "mickey", here's part one:-
And part two:-
It seems as
though many people have this misconceived notion that hairstyles for black girls are limited in the updo
department. Where did this rumor ever begin and why do so many females of African-American descent assume
that they either have to wear their hair down or in a plain ponytail? You have just as many achievable styles
available to you as anyone else. In fact, in many cases, black girls hairstyles are even easier to achieve
thanks to the added texture of coarse hair.
Sultry Chignon
Few people think to add the sultry and sexy chignon into the category of hairstyles for black girls which is rather
unfortunate considering you don’t need long hair to pull it off (plus, the thicker your hair is, the better)! Many
Caucasian women use a ton of product just to thicken their hair to create a full chignon; there's a good chance you
are naturally blessed with this volume so use it to your advantage.
All you need to do to create these black hairstyles for girls is
pull your hair into a ponytail above the nape of your neck. Now, take small sections of hair and roll them,
creating a bun-look, anchoring each strand with a bobby pin. These sections of hair do not all need to fold
universally; you can be creative and have them flowing in different directions. Finish the look off with a
barrette or a flower.
Curly Half Updo
Many women overlook using hot rollers to
create black girls hairstyles. They are no more damaging for black hair than Caucasian hair; the key is to
use a product that protects against heat during the styling process. Hot rollers take about 20 minutes to use
and you’re blessed with curls that can be incorporated into a multitude of looks.
When you roll your hair, the rollers on the top of your head
should be horizontal. It’s a good idea to pull the first section of hair toward your face on a bit of an
angle before rolling it back, to give you a little extra volume in the front.
When you move onto the sides and back of your hair, each roller
should be vertical; this will create ringlets. Leave the rollers in until they are cool to the touch and then
gently remove them without compromising the curl. Let the curls cool off completely before you begin fussing
with them.
At this point, you can create many different hairstyles for black girls. You can leave the hair all down or pull it
back into a pony, allowing the curls to create a full display. The half updo has become quite popular. This
involves either pulling back only the top half (or the sides too) and then leaving the bottom half down and curly.
The top half of hair can be held back in a barrette or comb, or you can create a bun or a French twist with it. You
can even make braids on both sides of your head to be pulled back to add a little extra detail to any of the wide
variety of black hairstyles for girls out there. Good luck!
