2008 Hair Styles

It’s fair to say that of the entire decade, 2008 hairstyles were some of the most diverse. In the 1930s, waves and curls were close to the head, by the 1950s, volume exploded in popularity. Of course, the 1980s took volume to a whole new level but not in a good way, but then 2008, comes along and throws all the rules away. Why? Well, 2008 hair really had no rules! Short, long, straight, curly, full, or flat, pretty much anything was deemed acceptable. This allowed people to break free of molds and let their unique personality shine through.

Popular 2008 Hairstyles

  • The Pob – Victoria Beckham, known as Posh of the Spice Girls, was literally granted her own named cut which combined Posh and the bob together to get the pob. This short cross between a pixie and a bob haircut is still nearly as popular today as it was in 2008. It took this diva to let females know that you do not have to have hair long hair to be considered a sex symbol.

  • Short Shag – This 2008 hair style looks great on nearly anyone unless your hair is super thick or extremely thin. The longest hair is at the crow. Ashley Judd is to thank for making this easy-to-maintain look so popular.

  • Romantic Bob – 2008 hair saw many variations of the bob. Katherine Heigl made the soft, carefree waves of the romantic bob a must have for the year.

  • Long Layers – These 2008 hair styles offer volume and versatility. Long layers can be worn straight, curled or scrunched. This thoughtful look is here to stay it, and it appears to get more popular every year.

  • Grunge Hair – Who doesn’t appreciate that grungy hair was made popular? This makes it okay to skip a day shampooing! You can even skip brushing your hair without looking like you got up late. Elisha Cuthbert is just one of the many celebrities who made this look so desirable.

  • Emo – The many variations of emo 2008 hairstyles can still be seen on both men and women. Although they are straight and sleek, they are also very edgy. These looks can be super short or extra-long, with bangs or without.  As long as the hair is super flat, that’s all that matters.

  • Curly Bob – Thanks to this 2008 hair style, women were finally permitted to put away that straightening iron and embrace the natural look they were blessed with. The cut has layers so it’s easy to create volume at the roots.

  • Return of the Bangs – What is it about bangs that can make you instantly look 10 years younger? 2008 hair styles saw a lot of bangs, neat and blunt as well as casual and uneven. Bangs were just as popular on short hair as they were on long hair that was all one length.
